WatEE privacy notice
Version 2.4.0 · 28 October 2026. This notice describes how this version of the app actually behaves. It is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by a lawyer.
What WatEE stores
- An optional nickname, the child's class (KG 1 to Class 5), the look and friend the child picked, settings, and, if a grown-up sets one, a curriculum profile (country and board).
- Learning events: which activity, the result (right, not yet, or shown by the tutor), how many tries, and the highest clue level used. No timing, voice, video, location or free text is recorded from the child.
- Movement warm-ups: which move card was done, skipped or done seated, and how many moves were counted. Only that count is kept, whether the moves were tapped or counted by the camera (see Camera move counting). Movement never changes skill levels.
- Playing together: which way you played (just me, watching, coaching or teammate) and team moments such as "Copy Me" or "We did it together!". Help from a grown-up is recorded as help, so skill levels stay honest.
- AWE corner: answers to "Remember it!" questions (which question, right or not yet), and that a story or song was opened that day.
- Drawings, game recipes and puzzles the child saves, plus private notes a grown-up chooses to write.
Where it is stored
If you used the earlier version of WatEE, its progress (stored under watee.local.v1) is copied into the new storage the first time this version opens. The old copy is left untouched, and deleting data from the grown-up corner removes the new copy. Clear site data to remove both.
Everything is stored only in this browser, on this device (IndexedDB). Nothing is sent to WatEE, to any server, or to any AI service. The app makes no requests to other websites, has no adverts and no analytics, and loads no third-party fonts or scripts.
Sound
"Read aloud" uses Didi's recorded voice or your device's built-in voice. WatEE never uses the microphone.
Teachers on a shared device
A teacher on the same device sees class-level summaries and each child's progress stage. Teachers never see parent notes, settings or stars.
Your controls
From Grown-ups → Family data you can download a backup, restore it, delete one child, or delete everything. Clearing the browser's site data also deletes everything. Backup files contain your child's learning record, so keep them safe.
The grown-up gate
The press-and-hold question keeps young children out of grown-up screens. It is not a password, so anyone using the device can pass it.
Printing
Printed pages (comic notes, colouring pages, comics, home tasks and results) carry the WatEE name, the date and an EMOTEES World footer on every page. A child's own pages also show the child's nickname, class, stars and gems, so the paper can go to school. Teacher worksheets show the school, city, class and teacher name the teacher typed, and a blank line for the child's name. Home-task worksheets list the questions and pictures only, never the answers. Printing happens in your own browser; nothing is uploaded.
Camera move counting (Magic Mirror) — v2.4
Off unless a grown-up switches on Grown-ups → Settings → Camera move counting. Then, in MoveLoot, your child can tap Count my moves with the camera, and your browser asks you to allow the camera.
- The video is looked at on this device by a body-pose model that ships with WatEE (MediaPipe Pose, Apache-2.0). Only body points such as shoulders, hands, hips and knees come out of it, and WatEE turns them into "one hop", "one clap" and so on.
- No video, photo or body point is recorded, saved or sent anywhere. Only the number of moves is kept, exactly as when the child taps the button.
- No face recognition, no identity, no emotion reading. The microphone is never used.
- A red "Camera on" light shows while it is on. It switches off by itself at each pit stop and when the battle ends, and there is a one-tap "Turn camera off". You can switch the setting off at any time.
- The pose model (about 18 MB) is only downloaded from watee.in the first time the camera is used.
Teacher's class & school — v2.4
A teacher can type their school name, city, class and their own name. It is kept on the teacher's device and is placed inside the homework links they choose to send, so families see which school a worksheet is from. It never contains children's information.
Optional AI helper for grown-ups (your own key)
It is off unless a grown-up adds their own API key (Groq, Google Gemini, OpenAI or Anthropic) in Grown-ups → AI helper and ticks the agreement. The Free option uses a free Groq key: WatEE checks the key by asking Groq for its list of models and sending one short test message (“say hello to a parent”), and saves the key only if that test works. The optional setup video is an embedded YouTube (youtube-nocookie.com) player that loads only if a grown-up taps “Watch the video”; YouTube's terms then apply to that video. The key is stored only in this browser. It is never included in backups, and you can remove it at any time.
When a grown-up presses Ask, WatEE sends that AI company the skill, the child's class, the curriculum, a short progress summary and the grown-up's question. It never sends the child's name. That company's own privacy terms then apply. Answers are shown only to the grown-up, are not saved, and never change the child's progress. Children never see this screen.
Share links (homework, notes, comics, results) — v2
When a grown-up or teacher taps Send on WhatsApp, Share or Copy link, WatEE builds a link. The content is inside the part of the link after #, which browsers never send to a web server. WatEE has no server and does not send these links anywhere itself. WhatsApp or your share sheet only opens when you tap.
- Homework links hold the questions and the title only. They never hold answer keys or a child's name. The answers to a teacher's own questions stay on the teacher's device.
- A result link holds the nickname the child uses in WatEE and a ✅ / 💡 / ❌ for each question. It is only sent if the child or grown-up taps Send my result.
- Links that arrive are checked, cleaned and limited in size. Nothing in a link is ever run as code.
Ask Humic (grown-ups, your own key) — v2
Parents and teachers can chat with Humic, the friendly tutor, about a topic. Only the topic, class, board, a short progress summary for that topic (for example "Growing — solved alone: 3, with help: 1") and your messages go to the AI service you chose, using your own key. A teacher chat sends no child progress. Your child's name is never sent. Children cannot open this screen. The offline "Teach it" guide works with no key at all.
Voice — v2.1
Didi's voice is made of short audio files that ship with WatEE and play on your device. If a line has no recording, WatEE uses a voice already installed on your phone. WatEE never records your child's voice and never sends text to a voice service.
Playing together — v2.2
In Race to the Castle, only your child's answers are saved, as their learning progress. A grown-up's or friend's answers are checked and then forgotten.
What is not in this version
There is no cloud sync and there are no accounts. If either is added later, this notice will change first, and it will be off until a parent turns it on.
